Son of Africas’ Board of Directors brings a wealth of knowledge and life experience to the Society.  Our directors come from all walks of life and are passionate about the organization and the possibilities it allows the African boys at Son of Africa.

  • Lori

    Founder

    Lori was born and raised in small town Alberta, later moving to British Columbia.  Her work experience from the past involved lifeguarding, building design and retail ownership.  Her love of travel has taken her to many countries, the latest being Africa.  She is the founder of the Son of Africa project and passionate about her work in Senegal.

    Korie

    Korie was born in Alberta, and was raised in foster care from age 4-18.  She holds lightly to her First Nations heritage.  She has a keen first-hand understanding of the life long effects of early childhood trauma and the struggle to successfully survive it.  Her formal education includes Office Administration, Ophthalmic Dispensing, and earned a Bachelor of Laws at UVic.

    Gora

    Gora aka Argo,was born and raised in Senegal, Africa and knows the hardships and traditions of Senegal.  He loves his country and is proud of his African heritage. He is a music artist and, as well, works in his small barbershop here.  He played a high level of soccer in the past and is actively involved with the local team as well as many other community projects and associations.

    Leslie

    Leslie was raised in Lethbridge, Alberta, later moving to BC.  She has been involved in different committees with her children’s schooling, and very involved with her children’s sports and dancing.  She has been happily married since 1987.  Leslie is passionate about Son of Africa and what it stands for.  Her dream is to go to Senegal.

    Jacqueline

    Jacqueline was raised in a rural community in Northern Alberta. Her skillset includes lifeguarding, Dental Technician, business coach and leader. In 1997 her life changed focus and today she supports others in being successful on their terms. She has a love for life, enjoys travel and feels blessed with a wonderful family and opportunities.
