The current Ebola situation in West Africa has caused much turmoil, mainly in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea, although many of the neighbouring countries have also been affected. As of September 14th, There have been more than 2600 deaths caused by the outbreak in West Africa and many more forecast in the near future. It has been deemed the largest Ebola outbreak in history.

Border crossings between certain countries have come to a standstill and several airlines are no longer being allowed to fly into certain countries. Health authorities from all over the world are working feverishly to try to contain the spread of the disease with door to door checks for sick individual, screening clinics, increased hospital beds and education.
Although there are no current cases in Senegal, it too has been affected by the outbreak. Visitor travel and cross border food supply has been limited. Over the next few weeks, with the help of care, education and screening clinics, there is hope to contain the disease, however, the outcome is uncertain. West Africa is now dealing with an economic crisis, shortage of food production and supply as well as the Ebola situation.
As this is the current state in West Africa, the Son of Africa progress has been hindered. The construction of the home which was to begin on September 24 has been delayed at least for the following month.
